The Council on Competitiveness has long characterized the competitive landscape, and examined where America stands. When major competitive opportunities or challenges emerge, the Council has sought to bring those to national attention, explore their implications and develop recommendations for action. Notwithstanding a currently robust economy—rising and strong economic, productivity and job growth; historically low unemployment; wage increases; an improved tax environment; etc.—the Council believes U.S. leadership in technology and long-term competitiveness are under threat.
