The GFCC is formed with the understanding that the fundamental drivers of national competitiveness are being knitted together in networks that now underpin global economic growth. The GFCC is an important platform for the exchange of information between competitiveness councils and to identify new metrics to benchmark international competitiveness. Innovation, sustainability and resilience, once thought to be the foundation for national competitiveness advantage, has now joined the global stage as the outline to bring about prosperity.
In addition, due to the unprecedented global change and competition brought about by the interconnectedness of the world’s economies, the GFCC was created to bring leaders from the private and public sector together to strengthen national competitiveness, stiumulate economic growth and foster innovation.
Each year, the GFCC develops and presents at its annual Summit a statement of shared principles and a book of best practices for accelerating global competitiveness and prosperity.
The organization has also produced The GFCC Competitiveness Decoder™, a first of-its-kind, data-based tool developed to visualize the key drivers of national competitiveness: the long-term growth of living standards through improvements in productivity. The tool is online and interactive, allowing global policymakers, investors and other stakeholders to compare the performance of 100+ nations, over 35 years, across 8 core pillars comprised of 130+ metrics and a new, comprehensive global trade database.
